The round tower was built in the 8th century by St. Mochua, a Christian missionary who founded a monastery in Clondalkin. The tower is one of the oldest and most elegant structures of its kind, standing at 27.5 meters high with its original cap intact. The tower symbolizes the rich heritage of Clondalkin, from its monastic origins to its Viking invasions, from its industrial development to its modern transformation. It celebrates the ancient Celtic art as a source of pride and identity for the people of Ireland, and as a reminder of the resilience and creativity of the Irish people throughout the centuries.
